Action Plan Should be Prepared for Returning Depositors' Money

Nagpur: Strict action should be taken against the culprits of the Pen Urban Co-operative Bank scam in Raigad district. The Enforcement Directorate and the Home Department will look into the matter and see that no culprit is spared. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today directed the officials of various departments to make an action plan to sell the bank’s properties for returning the depositors’ money.

A meeting was held in the Vidhan Bhavan today. At that time he was speaking. Co-operative minister Subhash Deshmukh, Guardian Minister of Raigad Ravindra Chavan, MLA Sanjay Kelkar, MLA Dhairyashil Patil, MLA Prashant Thakur, Additional Chief Secretary S. S. Sandhu along with the officials of Pen Urban Cooperative Bank Struggle Committee , the Collector of Raigad, Superintendent of Police, officers of Enforcement Directorate and CIDCO officials were present.

The scam at Pen Urban Co-operative Bank has hit on about 2.5 lakh bank depositers. Many of them have invested their life’s capital. In order to get justice for these depositors, serious action should be taken in this case. The Chief Minister gave instructions to the concerned departments to take strict action against the culprits, to confiscate their property, and to sell the property of the bank to recover the depositors’ money. He said that no guilty person involved in the scam should be favoured . The Police system and the Enforcement Directorate should take action in this case without any bias. Government will support you for this. Upper Chief Secretaries of the Home Department should also give their attention in this regard.

The Chief Minister said that CIDCO should buy the property , if possible , of the Bank which are in CIDCO area .

MHADA will be asked to purchase properties of other areas for the housing projects of the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme. Most depositor’s money can be returned from the sale of these properties, he said. The authorities should take stringent action against the culprits, not to cooperate with anyone of them and to teturn the depositors’ money.
