Mumbai: In commemoration of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary and on the occasion of National Unity Day ‘ Run for Unity ‘ Race began at the hands of the Governor Che. Vidyasagar Rao and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today at NCPA .
The programme was attended by Mumbai city District Guardian Minister Subhash Desai , Education Minister Vinod Tawde , M P Sanjay Kakde , MLA Raj Purohit , Chief Secretary Sumit Mallik .
The Governor administered the oath of National Unity Day in English . Shree Fadnavis gave the oath in Marathi. Students from various colleges, NCC , NSS , Bharat Scout Guide students , players of various gymkhanas, staff of government offices , various banks and citizens took part in the race.
On this occasion the Chief Minister said that Sardar Patel had done a lot to maintain the integrity of the nation. On his name today ‘Run for Unity’ Race is being organised in the country . This race is dedicated to national unity and solidarity. Citizens of all ages are taking part in this race . It will help to unify the nation . Nobody can break the integrity of the nation . This message is being given by this unity race , the Chief Minister said .
Ajoy Mehta , Commissioner of Brihan Mumbai Mahapalika , Additional Chief Secretary, General Administration Department Bgagwan Sahay, DM Sampada Mehta attended the programme .
