Mumbai: The Mumbai Port Trust was disconcerted after their team recovered ‘seven cartridges and one bombshell’ during dredging the sea bed near Alibaug.
As per the sources, all the recovered materials were handed over to Yellow Gate police so that they are investigated further. The recovery of the suspected materials has been informed to all the stakeholders including Indian Navy and Coast Guard.
When the media tried to contact the Mumbai Port Trust officials, they were unavailable for comment.
As per the news reports, the Mumbai Port Trust officials found seven cartridges and one bombshell on February 6 at 11 am. They immediately informed Yellow Gate police station. The Yellow Gate police station informed Joint Operation Centre (JOC) of Indian Navy.
When Pravinkumar Padwal, Additional Commissioner of Police, was contacted, he confirmed the matter and said that the recovered materials seem to be very old and have been sent to Directorate of Forensic Science Laboratory (DFSL) in Kalina to ascertain how old the suspected materials are.
Further, officials from the DFSL informed the media that they have received the materials and the forensic analysis to ascertain how old these materials are underway.
