Mumbai : ‘65% of our nation’s population is less than 35 years of age and if the youth are properly trained , our country can lead the world in other sectors along with industrial and service sectors. The Government , Industry and private institutions are coming and working together in that direction. This was stated by Shri Sobin Kuriyakos, the head of Citizens Engagement of National Skills Development Corporation today.
He was addressing a discussion session titled “Skill Development in the Industrial Sector ” in the Global Exhibition on Service sector organized at Bombay Exhibition Center at Goregaon today. Shri Sobin informed that quality education of various trades is being imparted under the Prime Minister’s Skill Development Scheme and many needy persons are getting benefit out of it. He underscored the innumerable opportunities available to trained candidates in the service sector.
Meanwhile Shri Sunil Khanna Executive Manager of Vertiv Energy and chairman of the Skill Development Committee of the Confedaration of Indian Industries said that many imaginative efforts are being made to impart vocational education along with traditional education due to which skilled labor is becoming available to the industrial sector on a large scale.
The Executive Director of the National Skills Development Corporation Shri Jayant Krishna informed about the skill development in this discussion session. Similarly the chief executive of the BFSI sector Skill Council Shri Meghdoot Karnik, Shri Yogesh Bisht of Vice President of Shoppers’ Stop, Chief Executive Officer of Electronic Sector Skill Limited Shri K N Mohapatra, Chief Marketing Officer of Appollo Med Skills Shri Shrinivasan Shridhar and Corporate Manager of the Mahindra Holidays and Resorts Shri Sumit Ghai also expressed their views on the occasion.
