Mumbai : The Health Department has informed that health checkup of 90.47% children in the 98.50% Anganwadis in the state has been completed under the National Child Health Program. This check up is carried out in two sessions in a year.
The children in the age group of 0 to 6 is performed in the state under the National Child Health Program. 993 teams consisting of one gents and lady medical officer, one nurse and one pharmacist , are working for the same.
Health check up of 72 lakhs 74 thousand 543 children at total one lakh three thousand three hundred forty four Anganwadis was targeted during the period April 2017 to March 2018. During the first session from April 2017 to September 2017, 62 lakhs 20 thousand 498 (85.51 ) children in 98 thousand 029 (94.86 ) Anganwadis were checked up and out of which four lakhs sixty three thousand one hundred seventeen children suffering from minor ailments were treated.
During the second session from October 2017 to March 2018, 66 lakhs 40 thousand 800 ( 90.47% ) children at one lakh one thousand seven hundred ninety (98.50%) anganwadis were checked .
Treatment is given to children found sick during the checkup. Seriously sick students are referred to the specialists for further treatment. Surgeries are performed, if necessary. These treatment and surgeries are done free of cost.
