FDCM to tie up with Amazon to sell forest products

Mumbai: The state government and forest minister Sudhir Mungatiwar has taken a step to conserve forest by tying up with the global retail portal, Amazon to sell forest products which will be manufactured by the forest Development corporation of Maharashtra (FDCM).

This is the first initiative taken by the Maharashtra government. It has been taken to achieve target of planting 50 crore trees by 2017.

As per the information the state forest minister Sudhir Mungatiwar launched the sale of treated teak seeds om Amazon.which is on a pilot basis.

In further plans, the state will add more seed. timber products and herbal medicines produced by FDCM.

UK Agrawal, Managing director of FDCM said, that a raw seed has various layers and thus cannot germinat. To ensure a plants germinates its seed should be treated, which takes three months. Once the seeds are germinated it will be ready for sale.

The teak seeds will be made available at reasonable prices to all including farmers for additional income, he added.
