Gurgaon: In a new development, former Himachal Pradesh governor VS Kokje was on Saturday elected as the new international president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s (VHP). The voting for the same was held for the first time in over five decades.
VS Kokje received 131 votes and defeated serving Raghava Reddy who could collect only 60 votes. In total, 192 delegates of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad were entitled to cast their votes in April 14 election in Gurgaon.
As the members of the VHP failed to reach an agreement over the selection of a new international president, the election was called for almost after five decades.
