Debt-ridden farmer ends life in Bhandara

Bhandara: Another debt-ridden farmer of Vahei village in Pawei taluka of Bhandara district committed suicide by hanging himself at his farm on Thursday, police said.

The deceased identified as, Someshwar Kukudey (37), has 6 acres of land, he had taken loan of Rs 75,000 from a central bank and Rs 25,000 from a private money lender of the village.

However, due to heavy loss in farming and the stress to payback the debt, he decided to end his life.

Last week, a 55-year-old farmer identified as Shankar Bhaurao Chawre allegedly committed suicide in Yavatmal district of Vidarbha over mounting debts and failed crop. He blamed the Narendra Modi government for his plight.
