Committee set up to study alternatives for use if plastic suggested by entrepreneurs

Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis Monday set up a secretary-level committee to study the alternatives suggested by the entrepreneurs on production, use and elimination of plastic.

A meeting of plastic entrepreneurs was held at Mantralaya today to discuss the use and elimination of plastic in presence of Industries Minister Subhash Desai, Environmennt Minister Ramdas Kadam, Shivsena Youth leader Aaditya Thackeray.

The secretary level committee will have CM’s Additional Chief Secretary Pravin Sinh Pardeshi, Addl Principal Secretary of Environment department Satish Gavai, Addl Principal Secretary of Industries department Sunil Porwal and Member Secretary of pollution Control Board Dr P Anabalgan. This committee will study the alternatives and issues and submit its report to a high power committee appointed by the government on banning plastic use.

Earlier, office-bearers of the plastic entrepreneurs’ committee gave information on recycling of plastic, the articles made from that, management of plastic waste, system to collect plastic, people’s participation, public awareness, cooperation with government etc. through a presentation. Many entrepreneurs were present on this occasion.
