The Chief Secretary reviews the measures for preventing child deaths in Mantralaya

Mumbai: The chief Secretary Shri Sumit Malik today reviewed the measures for reducing the number of Child deaths in the Adivasi areas of the state. A meeting of the core committee was held under the Chairmanship of the chief Secretary in Mantralaya today. During the meeting he interacted with the District Collectors and Chief Executive Officers of Amravati, Nasik, Jalgaon, Nanded, Ahmednagar, Gadchiroli, Thane and Nanded through video conferencing and reviewed the situation .

After reviewing the various measures taken by the Health, Women and Child Development and Tribal Development departments, the Chief Secretary informed that special attention is devoted to the 16 tribal districts in the state. Decisions for health facilities are being taken as per the local needs and a new CT scan machine will be given at Nandurbar. The process for the same is in the final stages. Express feeder is being prepared for the same. It has also been decided to appoint two teams of doctors and employees for the Boat Ambulance at Nandurbar.

The Chief Secretary informed that 1500 new Sub Health Centers have been approved in the state and BAMS doctors will be appointed in the next three months at these centers. The Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishads are authorized to appoint the Doctors.

It has also been decided to newly establish the Nutritional Rehabilitation center (NRC) at Karjat in Raigad District. The Chief Secretary informed that tt has also been decided to newly establish the Nutritional Rehabilitation center (NRC) at Churani and Chikhaldara in Amarvati District as well.

He also instructed to seek aid from the Corporate Social Responsibility fund of the private companies for immediately starting the Central Kitchen at Melghat. Nutritional food can be provided to the children in schools and Anganwadis for which purpose the central kitchen should be started at the earliest.

The matter of starting the VCDC was also reviewed in the tribal areas was also reviewed. Measures for providing internet connectivity in Melghat area was also discussed. If internet facility is provided on urgent basis, time will not be wasted to pay the food subsidy to the beneficiaries

The Principal Secretary of the Health Department Dr Pradeep Vyas, Commissioner Dr Sanjeev Kumar, Medical Education Secretary Sanjay Deshmukh, District Collectors and Chief Executive Officers of Palghar and Nandurbar districts and members of the committee were present on the occasion.
