Action in scholarship fraud after HC directives: Rajkumar Badole

Nagpur : Drishti Multipurpose Education and Environment Development Institute had filed a petition in the High Court regarding implementation of scholarship scheme highlighting the discrepancies and irregularities. Appropriate action against the concerned persons in this regard will be taken only after the directives of the High Court, said Social Justice Minister Rajkumar Badole in Vidhan Parishad on Friday.

Nagorao Ganar had submitted a calling attention motion regarding the scholarship fraud. The Minister replying to the motion said that a special enquiry committee was set up on 15th January 2016 to probe into the irregularities in the scholarship scheme. The committee has submitted its report to the government. The audit report in committee’s report is under scrutiny by the Social Welfare Commissioner and the case is sub judice.

The scholarship is deposited directly to the accounts of the students through MahaDBT. A decision has been taken to deposit education fees in the accounts of the colleges while scholarships will be deposited to the accounts of the students. We are trying to pay the scholarship amount within six months. Besides, the due scholarship fo 2013-14 will be paiad in a month, Badole said.
